The renaissance is the movement to advance the arts, the sciences, and philosophy.

People wanted to return to the glory of ancient Greece and Rome.

Italy had bigger cities than any other country in Europe.

The big cities attracted scholars and artists.

It was almost always religious

They were based on the Bible stories.

People in the paintings did not look real.

They wanted art to show what people really looked like.

He though that the church had too many ceremonies, and he attacked the church for making money.

He was an English humanist who wrote about the problems he saw in the Government as well as the church.

He wrote the book Utopia.

He died because he didn’t agree that the king of England was the head of the Catholic Church.

William Shakespeare was the greatest English writer.

They are Romeo and Juliet and Hamlet.
